Nature Trail: Iztochnik Village – Torbalaji Village – Sechen Kamak – Bozhentsi Village

The route is about 4.7 km long one way and follows a gentle ascent through wooded terrain toward the village of Torbalaji and the Sechen Kamak sanctuary.

The Thracian sanctuary of Sechen Kamak consists of a long rock formation, oriented east-west, rising above the surrounding landscape. Carved into the rock are stone circles, or “suns,” most of which are arranged in a chain-like pattern along the top of the rock. There are more than ten of them, and all are raised and hemispherical in shape. The carving of these “stone suns” symbolizes the connection between the earthly and heavenly principles—the Great Mother Goddess and the sun she gave birth to.

There are informational signs, directional arrows, and a map of the route. The trail enters a forest and, after a short descent, reaches the picturesque village of Bozhentsi, home to the Bozhentsi Architectural and Historical Reserve Museum.

The route is of moderate difficulty and is suitable for hiking and biking. It does not require special equipment and is suitable for children.
